Memes In The Time Of Crisis
Grumpy Cat. Condescending Wonka. Success Kid. Evil Kermit.
These simple combinations of words have managed to elevate themselves to global recognition as some of the world’s most popular memes. With essentially an infinite amount of memes on the Internet dating back to the early to mid-1990s, these are among the rare few to become true cultural phenomenon.
By definition, a meme is “an amusing or interesting item, such as a captioned picture or video, that is spread widely online – usually through social media.” In our industry, memes can also be used as marketing tools. But today, in the middle of a global crisis, we’re looking at memes as a form of entertainment – because there’s something refreshing about an innocent (or not so innocent) joke which resonates equally with people around the world.
So without further ado, please enjoy a collection of our team’s favourite coronavirus memes.
