Reflect, Reskill and Reorganise: How To Stay Productive In The Midst Of The Pandemic
With circuit breaker measures officially in place, most of us will now spend a significant amount of time in our home. Being at home isn’t necessarily a bad thing! We can make use of this extended period of time to look into things we always wanted to do but haven’t had time to reflect, reskill and reorganise before life goes full steam ahead.
Reflect
Having more time at hand allows us to pause and evaluate the priorities in life; why we do what we do. You could decide to kick that unhealthy habit you never got rid of, or try that home exercise routine that you were always “too busy” to get to. Or perhaps it’s time to reconnect with old friends on the phone and nurture your bonds with your loved one at home. Taking time to reflect gives us the opportunity to think of our next steps to map a happier and more wholesome life.
Reskill
Being at home also means more time to pick up new skills and venture beyond what we already know. Numerous online courses ranging from digital marketing to financial analysis are available on platforms like LinkedIn and Coursera. You could even pick up a new language with Duolingo and eventually learn how to say bonne nuit before going to bed.
Regardless of industry and occupation, it’s always good to arm yourself with new skill sets, be it brushing up on Excel skills or becoming a certified JavaScript coder. Who knows, maybe in the process of acquiring your new skill you may just come up with the next great innovative solution for your company?
Reorganise
What better time is there to throw out items that don’t spark joy than now? Use your breaks in-between work to declutter your space and reorganise your bedroom, living room and even ingredients in your kitchen! You may even decide to adopt a potted plant or change a fresh sheet of wallpaper to spice up your living space. At the end of this period, you’ll find yourself with a refreshed and more productive living space.
With the tightening of COVID-19 measures to stem its spread, we are wise to stay indoors as much as possible. During this time, let us seize the opportunities we have to spend with loved ones, pick up a new skill and keep our spaces organised. Soon enough, we’ll be recharged to jump back into the rhythm of life once again!
